Paris Catacombs

See a different side of Paris with a catacombs tour. Located 20 meters underground the Paris Catacombs are a maze of tunnels holding the bones of some 6 million Parisians in what was part of an effort to eliminate the city’s overflowing cemeteries. During your visit you will learn the history of this underground ossuary dating back to the 1780s. The Catacombs have been open to the public since the early 1800s. The tunnels actually stretch for some 200 miles under the city, but visitors only see a tiny portion.

Hours 9:45 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., closed Monday and some holidays.
Tickets $16
Andy’s Notes:

Due to the underground location, the Paris Catacombs cannot accommodate mobility disabilities. This is also not a good tour if you are squeamish about real human bones or are claustrophobic.
