Tour Eiffel

The most famous landmark in all of Paris, the Eiffel Tower is on every first time visitor’s must-see list. The wrought-iron lattice tower is more than 1,000-feet-high at its tippy top. It is named for the engineer Gustave Eiffel whose company designed and built the tower for the Universal Exhibition of 1889. You can ride an elevator all the way to the top of the Eiffel Tower where there are both open-air and indoor viewing platforms and a champagne bar.

Hours Open daily, 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., early closing on July 14
Tickets $12 to $29, $6 to $15 children under 12, free children under 4
Andy’s Notes:

Not all tickets here are created equal. The basic-priced tickets let you either walk or take the elevator to the second floor viewing platform (yes you pay more to take the elevator), which is actually at 116 meters, so still a great view. If you want to go all the way to the top (276 meters) of the tower, which is a very cool experience especially at night, you will pay the most. The top can be accessed via lift, however, which is a plus.
