Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson
The 20th-century photographer created his namesake Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson in 2003 with his wife, Martine Franck, and their daughter. Considered the “pioneer of photojournalism,” Cartier-Bresson’s work spans nearly 70 years. After a 15-year stint in the Montparnasse neighborhood of Paris, the foundation has moved to a street-level exhibition space in the fashionable Marais district. The couple’s collection is an extensive one: vintage prints, contact sheets, drawings, publications, correspondences, rare books, albums, films and posters. In addition to the permanent collection, the gallery features rotating photography exhibits from contemporary artists. Check the schedule of events to see when the gallery is hosting short films and speakers.
