Fondation Louis Vuitton

Frank Gehry’s architectural masterpiece is one of the highlights of a visit to the Bois de Boulogne park in the western side of the city. The museum is constructed from 3,600 glass panels, which form the 12 sails of the ship-shaped building. The Fondation features 11 exhibition galleries that center around contemporary art, in addition to an auditorium where visitors can catch concerts, conferences, and film projections. Don’t leave without stepping out on the terraces, which offer panoramic views of Paris. The restaurant, Le Frank, is also worth a visit, since it’s helmed by Michelin-starred chef Jean-Louis Nomicos, whose namesake restaurant sits in the same neighborhood.

Hours Outside temporary exhibitions: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, noon to 7 p.m.; Friday, noon to 9 p.m.; Weekends and public holidays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; first Friday of the month (except August), noon
Tickets $10 (or $5 for concessions)

Andy’s Notes:

From the Les Sablons stop off the Line 1 metro, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the museum. An easier option is to hop on the Fondation’s shuttle, which departs from Place Charles de Gaulle every 20 minutes and only costs $2 for a roundtrip ticket.
