Musée du Quai Branly
One of the landmarks lining the banks of the Seine and not far from the Eiffel Tower, the Musée du Quai Branly — Jacques Chirac features a collection revolving around non-Western arts and civilizations. The museum is intended to be a visual and sensory experience, with over 3,500 works from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. Strolling through the museum you’ll find Native American headdresses, costumes from Asia, and masks from Oceania. There are nearly 1,000 pieces from Africa alone, one of the highlights being the 9th century Djennenke statue from Mali. The sensory part comes in through the accompanying music, film, and texts.
