Musee d’Art et d’Histoire du Judaisme

Learning about Jewish art and history at this museum will provide you with a first-hand look at an extensive collection of religious objects, manuscripts, and works of art promoting the contributions of Jews to France and to the world. The museum opened in 1998 and has a beautiful home in the Hotel de Saint-Aignan in the Marais, an area where many Jews lived at the end of the 18th century. The museum has permanent collections, regular temporary exhibitions, and educational activities and conducts research culminating as an important cultural destination. It has a collection of medieval headstones and beautiful Hanukah lamps, and covers specific Ashkenazi and Sephardic traditions.
