Palais de Tokyo
While you’re crossing the Eiffel Tower off your list of sites to see, stop in one of the neighboring museums, Palais de Tokyo, which was built in 1937 for the Paris International Exhibition. The west wing’s claim to fame is that it’s one of the largest centers for creation and contemporary art in Europe. The Palais de Tokyo features programming that allows artists from around France — and the world — to take over the space for residencies, so you never know what kind of scene you’ll be stepping into. In the east wing, you’ll find the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. The esplanade is a popular spot for skateboarders and is crowned by a central pool that’s surrounded by sculptures by Auguste Guénot and Louis Dejean. Thanks to the palace’s prime location near the Eiffel Tower, you’re guaranteed great views.
