Le Select

You’ll find this one in Hemmingway’s The Sun Also Rises, so you shouldn’t be surprised he frequented this 1920s original, along with other notable literary and artistic names during its debaucherous heyday. Today, Le Select is a touch more demure, more famous for its roast chicken than for its barfights, but the ample drinks menu remains a highlight, and the late hours, especially on weekends, encourage a robust nightlife in this iconic brasserie that has seen little change in its nearly hundred-year history.

Hours

Sunday through Thursday: 7 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.; Friday and Saturday 7 a.m. until 3:00 a.m.

Price

Upscale ($$$)

Andy’s Notes:

The Montparnasse neighborhood is overflowing with legendary brasseries, all worth a visit, but if you’ve only got time to pop into one, it should be this one. From the rattan chairs on the terrace to the Art Deco décor throughout, Le Select is original to the core.
