Stohrer

The king of Parisian patisseries, Stohrer is the oldest and most storied bakery in the capital with a tradition that dates back to its namesake founder, the official baker for King Louis XV. Don’t look for quirky modern treats here; this is the place for the classics, like chocolate éclairs, tarte aux pommes, and babà au rhum, which is believed to have been invented here. For generations, most of the prized creations were still baked from the handwritten recipes of Nicolas Stohrer.

Andy’s Notes:

Thanks in no small part to a visit from Queen Elizabeth II in 2004, Stohrer’s puits d’amour are among the most popular pastries here. Pick one up for a taste of royal tradition, past and present.
