Au Bœuf Couronné

Though completely renovated in 2016, Au Bœuf Couronné is a beloved vestige of its neighborhood’s vibrant past as the meat-trading center of Paris. Step onto patterned tile floors and sink into red velvet banquettes as you begin your carnivorous journey into the fine French tradition of steak dinner. Choose from a considerable array of cuts and sizes, all from Normandy cows and aged 20 days by the restaurant’s butcher, but save room for dessert because you’ll definitely want to indulge in the baked Alaska flambéed in rum.

Hours

Monday through Sunday; Noon to 3:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. to Midnight

Price

Upscale ($$$)

Andy’s Notes:

All beef dishes at Au Bœuf Couronné are served with a choice of French fries, new potatoes, or soufflé potatoes; Choose the latter. It’s a house specialty, and the coveted recipe has remained secret for almost 90 years.
